Anheuser-Busch has tapped into a very promising market with this merger. With Vietnam’s beer consumption on the rise, approximately 10% per year, their own small companies are not going to be able to keep up with demand in the long run. This is where it becomes a great opportunity for Bush to come in. Bush already has a very efficient process for the creation of their products. This means that they will be able to increase the efficiency of the SAB brewery.
With becoming more efficient, it provides them with the opportunity to sell in higher volumes and offer to an even wider market. This also allows them to explore a new market and learn more about the types of beer that are preferred in this region. Since they will be producing the typical beers found in Vietnam at the former SAB brewery this makes me ask a few questions. In the long run, will they just attempt to produce and sell those beer types in that area or will they begin to produce them on a global scale? It also makes me wonder what supply chain effects are going to come from this. Overall I think that they have taken a great opportunity that opens up many doors for them in the future.

I think the merger was a good move for the company because beer sales have continually been on that rise, making it a great time to expand the company and invest in a new audience by understanding their wants and needs. Although SAB beer Vietnam no longer exists, the merger allows the company to operate with higher productivity and higher quality products. I think it will be interesting to see what modifications the company will have to make in order to appeal to their new audience.
