Troubles in Town
The day had been like any other day of work for John Rough, a taxi driver from New Jersey. However, everything changed at 6 p.m. “Welcome to scalini fedeli where we are family”, said Rosa, the waitress. Rough placed his order, and his meal was brought. “What!” was all anyone could say when the driver took the first pinch of his dish. Every meal in the restaurant went bad. Everyone was baffled. One by one, they left the restaurant, in fear of what could ensue. John moved to café mattise. After the usual routine, he was served. Taking the first bit of the meal, similar development was witnessed. Food went from delicious to rotten.
During the previous week, news had hit America that a young boy from New York, had powers to influence situations through his dreams. Whatever he dreamt of came to pass. From other parts of the country, there were revelations that a man had powers to control weather. These were treated as rubbish and rumors until this day. There was a feeling that troubles were visiting. Citizens present started to believe that everything going on had something to do with individual or individuals in their midst. They had to find out who the individual was. So, in a group of 78 individuals who were present in the restaurant at the time of event, fruits were bought and everyone ask to pick and eat in sequence. 63 individuals had passed the test as they ate with no effect to the rest of the fruits. Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for. John stood up, picked one for the test and than the rest went bad.
Astonished at the event of the night, the driver fainted. After 15 minutes of first aid, the centre of attraction came back to his senses. He informed the crowd that everything was new and nothing like that had ever happened to him or any member of his family before. After thorough interrogation, it was reached that John had to see a specialist in order to advise him on how to cope with the trouble visiting and he was to avoid any public eating-place or had to eat with the help of another person. Some claimed that he was possessed with troubles that were beckoning.
