Newer Developing options for continuous improvement 1 Scenario: The management group in your organisation wishes you to present a 45-minute briefing to employees in order to encourage continuous improvement and innovation. It is felt that employees do not truly understand what continuous improvement means or how it will impact on current and future work. The management group want to support employees so they will submit any new ideas or suggestions they have. They want to develop a creative culture in which innovation is recognised and entrepreneurialism is encouraged. Prepare a set of notes that you would use for this briefing. Cooperation and interaction between teams/ sections/ divisions. Accepting failure of ideas without penalty. Benefits of continuous improvement. Quality management processes and systems as they apply to continuous improvement. Learning as an organisational tool that can promote creativity and innovation. Teamwork. Sustainable business practice. Explain how you would present this information—that is, will it be presented to employees in the organisation at an all-staff meeting, using, possibly, PowerPoint presentations; or will you present it informally to small groups within the organisation? Develop your own ideas about how to present the information. Describe them and explain why you would choose this particular method of presentation. The briefing should be used to inform employees about the need for innovative problem solutions and indicate the ways in which the organisation will support employee input into the development of new ideas and innovations.
