I am a medical doctor and I am making the research for my Master thesis – Efficacy of middle mineralised, alkaline water for GERD patients. These are only preliminary results, that’s why patient number is not so big and the number of the patients varies in each group.
I would like to make some statistics (better in SPSS programme) for me as well graphs/diagrams showing the results. With all deviations, p value and so on. I am attaching the excel table below.
Methods of the studies: Patients with GERD – gastroesophageal reflux disease are taken for that study.
They are split into 3 groups:
1 – they take every day mineralizes water Amrita with pH 9.6, 1 litre each day.
2 – they take every day Amrita 1 litre + proton pump inhibitors (tablets) (PPI)
3 – they take only PPI (1 tablet daily)
Before the study GERDq questionnaire is filled and we receive the score.
After 2 weeks of medications taken (Amrita, Amrita+PPI or PPI only) they fill the questionnaire once more and we receive the score.
The aim of the study is to prove the efficacy of Amrita water.
What I want to be counted:
• male:female
• age by groups + diagramm
• was the upper endoscopy performed (how many %).
• if was – positive gerd/negative gerd
• if positive – stage
• symptoms – chart?
• mean/medium (what is better?) intensity of heartburn
• how much heartburn is (in minutes/hours)
• if patient has used medications for hearburn before (how many of them?)
• Body mass index for all patients – diagramm? mean and by groups?
Showing where patients are in comparison with normal range: BMI Categories:
Underweight = <18.5 Normal weight = 18.5–24.9 Overweight = 25–29.9 Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater • isolated or not form of GERD • other diseases • GERD Q before and after the medication in every group (diagramm with two columns for each group + showing in percents how much was the decrease in each group). thanks a lot!
