Plato and Aristotle both point out that the ‘good’ of unfettered productive efficiency (technology) is a dangerous good because with each upgrade there is an increased risk for destruction (as well as benefit). Furthermore, they think that the logic of such a blinding good will, if left to its own course, eventually upgrades to some point of radically exposed risk that brings down much of life and civilization itself. It has been suggested that our current culture accepts that ‘good’ means this technological good. This blind acceptance exposes us to ever greater risks. For Plato and Aristotle, how can we reduce our risk and find the good we really need?
