In “The Amazing Adventures of Phoenix Jones” by Jon Ronson, we get an inside look at a subculture of people who dress in costume to fight crime. Though Ronson does talk about different people/groups of costumed crime fighters, the piece is largely focused on painting a portrait of Phoenix Jones.
Using either “Creating the Myth” or “The Thematic Paradigm” as a lens, write an analytical essay in which you argue whether Phoenix Jones fits the definition of a “hero” outlined in either text.
This essay does NOT ask whether you personally believe that Phoenix Jones is a hero, but whether the portrait that Ronson paints of Jones fits within either article’s definition of a “hero”.
